The North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) is
pleased to announce that the Mu Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity is a recipient
of the 2012 Chapter Award of Distinction. The Award will be presented at the
NIC Annual Meeting on April 22, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

The Chapter Award of Distinction recognizes the
undergraduate chapter which is highly functioning, in compliance with NIC
Standards, seeks to educate others about the benefits of a values based
fraternity experience, and works to maintain a healthy relationship with their
inter/national organization. We are pleased to announce that the Mu Chapter of
Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Georgia is one of this year’s
recipients.

The Mu Chapter of Sigma Nu has recently been recognized as a
winner of the Rock Chapter Award, which signifies continued excellence and is
the highest award a chapter can receive from Sigma Nu. The chapter has also
been given the Pursuit of Excellence Program Award for excellence in personal
development, membership value, and operational excellence from the national
fraternity.

Michael Pisciotta, the Senior Coordinator for Greek Life at
UGA, had this to say about the fraternity: “The Mu Chapter has established a standard
of excellence at the University of Georgia. They serve as an inspiration to other
groups on campus and serve as a shining example of what can be accomplished
through collaborative effort.”

Former Chapter President Andrew Monk writes, “Above all, Mu
Chapter remains dedicated to raising the bar. Mu’s growth in membership,
dedication to campus involvement and development of leadership has demonstrated
a commitment to excellence.”

NIC President and CEO Pete Smithhisler commended the award
recipients and nominators saying, “The Awards of Distinction allow the NIC to
recognize outstanding achievement and to publicize best practices among its
members. This year, we had many qualified nominations and we are proud to honor
these individuals and chapters for their accomplishments. ”

Founded in 1909, the North-American Interfraternity
Conference is the trade association representing 75 international and national
men’s fraternities. Through advocacy, collaboration, and education the NIC
works to ensure that fraternities can operate in an environment conducive to
their success.
