LEAD Speaker

On February
6, Mu Chapter was fortunate to have Dr. Bill McDonald, Dean of Students at the
University of Georgia, speak with its Spring Candidate Class.  Dr. McDonald spoke about one of his many
professional interests – ethical decision-making – as part of Sigma Nu
Fraternity’s LEAD Program.

“Every decision
you make has ethical dimensions to it,” said Dr. McDonald. “But what do you do when you have two values,
two beliefs, two convictions that come into conflict?”

During his presentation, Dr. McDonald
presented K.S. Kitchener’s five principles for ethical decision-making, which are:

1. Respect autonomy.

2. Do no
harm.

3. Benefit
others.

4. Promote
justice.

5. Be
faithful.

Dr. McDonald
concluded his remarks by saying: “I look forward to seeing what you will do as
student leaders in this fraternity; as student leaders at the University of
Georgia.”

Mu Chapter
would like to sincerely thank Dr. McDonald for taking the time to meet with our Candidates, and for encouraging them to always lead
with vision and courage.
