Carter Setliff Comes Back to Visit Mother Mu

resized_300x225_IMG_0243Carter Setliff, a United States veteran and close friend to many Mu’s, came back to visit Mother Mu September 24th and talk to the current candidates during a LEAD session.Mr. Setliff was able to tell stories of his experiences at the River Road Chateau and attest to the brotherhood that still exists between the many living alumni of Mu Chapter.  He, along with over 20 invited brothers (and their spouses), gather annually. Last year’s event was held at Lake Burton.

Mr. Setliff was born on December 25, 1933 and arrived at UGA in 1953. He pledged Sigma Nu in the Fall quarter and moved to River Road in the Winter. In 1955 he was drafted and reported in 1956 to Fort Benning, Georgia. Mr. Setliff received an honorable discharge in 1957 and was employed as a loan manager for General Finance Corporation. His professional career led him to earn a law degree in 1965 and a commission as an Assistant Attorney General from Eugene Cook and Governor Carl Sanders, in 1965. In addition to his private practice, he served as a magistrate court judge in Rockdale County from 1979-1988. Mr. Setliff is "almost retired" from the private practice of law.

Thank you, Carter for taking the time to speak with us.

Carter will be initiated this Fall with the current pledge class as a result of his long lasting ties with other Sigma Nu alumni and many personal accomplishments. We hope you will join us for the initiation. Please contact Austin Hackney, chapter president, at austhack@gmail.com with any questions.
