John Hearn

Q) Why did you join?

I had been parking at the Sigma Nu house with my family for Georgia games

since kindergarten. In many regards, it

was the natural choice to make, which makes it that much more of a

blessing.

Q) What year was your pledge class? What

was your PIN number?

Pledge Class: Fall, 1987

Pin #: Mu 2000

Q) What was your major?

BBA, Risk Management & Insurance

Q) Tell us about your favorite memory of

the fraternity

While there were many fond memories, for some reason the Homecoming float we

made in 1988 stands out. After covering

John Hamrick’s boat with chicken wire, it became clear that about the only

shape it could possibly look like was a shark. Thus, a gray paper covering , shark’s tail attached to the motor, and

manual operation of the steering wheel (and shark’s tail) completed the

task. . If memory serves correctly, a shark had little to do with that year’s

homecoming theme.

Q) What kind of influence has the

fraternity had on your life since graduation?

Most importantly, many of my current best friends came from Sigma Nu. Further, I’ve had the opportunity to be

involved with the current actives, and, while watching their development, I reflect

on how much I developed personally as a result of my experiences at Mu

Chapter. It is one the more significant leadership

development experiences of my life thus far.

Who would you most like to find?

Alumni, please get involved with the chapter! Update your contact information at www.ugasigmanu.com. Send in rush referrals. Getting reconnected to others will mean a

great deal to you, and your involvement with the Active Chapter will make a

difference in the future of these high caliber guys. It is important at this time in our chapter’s

history for us to leverage the strength of our 1,400+ living Alumni. Many thanks to the roughly 30+ Alumni who

have actively supported the revitalization efforts over the past two

years! Your help is noticed and

appreciated.
